On October 20th Kevin Cochrane from Adobe will be on the hot-seat with Veronica and Scott, allowing the audience to evaluate for themselves if Adobe is really delivering the WCM solutions and interactive experiences customers are demanding from their content management systems.

Hi Craig. Great question!
In a word Yes (we do this all the time). However the caveat there is only if you migrate perfectly so as not to disrupt as many of the Search Engine Signals as possible. This includes but is not limited to Site URL’s (they will change with the new CMS and you need to tell the search engines and your back link partners where the new versions are), Title Tags, Meta Descriptions, Internal linking structure, Page Load Times, Heading Content, Body Content, Source Code Structure, Alt Attributes, etc… The most important part is the redirect strategy to the new pages. Let me know if you need a hand.
Cheers.

I want to completely replicate my existing non-profit web site with a new program. I built the original site in Frontpage which is defunct. Fortunately I have a web host that still supports FrontPage extensions - But my site serves only the Denver Metro area - and leads in all categories of local search that are pertinent to us. Therefore - can I replicate the exact material with another software web design package - right down to identical content and exact URL replication - and not risk losing our Search Engine positioning/Indexing?
Thanks

Nice article Gary. Although, as the linked article points out: most CMS's still haven't solved the fundamental challenge of letting non-technical authors manage content. This still continues to feel like a fragile experience.

On one hand, I'm as excited as anyone about the new opportunities offered through WEM. However, I still see a lot of organizations who fear their CMS. Until internal engagement exists, WEM is like a steering wheel on a car with no engine.

My coder is trying to convince me to move to .net from PHP. I have always disliked the idea because of the expenses. But he's tryiong none the less. I've been using Movable-type on a variety of websites for about a year and am nervous about switching to another platform. I have heard good things about blogengine.net. Is there a way I can transfer all my wordpress posts into it? Any help would be really appreciated!

Thank you so much. As a small business that is just starting to get a bit overwhelmed by RFP, I feel a bit more empowered! Some are just so ridiculous. I appreciate your answer about the company financials as well and will test your response (in a nice warm tone of course)
